Centering process 2: Radius of curvature of optical axis and lens surface
The centered, non-eccentric lens rotates without sideways movement.
A completely centered lens can be rotated by attaching both ends to a lens holder pulled out by a bench race without eccentricity, and if both sides of the lens are not shaken, the outer circumference of the lens will also rotate without sideways movement.
The following are examples of centering methods.
- Optical centering method
- Centering by transparency
- Centering by reflection
- Mechanical centering method
- Centering with a dial gauge
- Bell clamp centering (mainly used by us)
Bell clamp centering
Bell clamp centering is a lens holder (fixed shaft and clamp shaft) that has the same rotation axis. When the lens is sandwiched from both sides and the holder is completely in close contact with both sides of the lens, the thickness of the part in contact with the holder extends over the entire circumference. It uses the principle that the optical axis of the lens coincides with the rotation axis of the holder.
Flow of centering by Bell clamp
STEP1:
Feed the polished lens between the fixed shaft and the clamp shaft of the lens holder.
STEP2:
Move the clamp shaft so that the fixed shaft and the clamp shaft are in complete contact with the lens surface.
STEP3:
The lens slides and the optical axis and the clamp axis match
Centering process 3: Centering / chamfering
Centering process 1: Optical axis and radius of curvature of lens surface
